The experiment "will be proposed on a voluntary basis from September 1, 2023," explains Zémorda KHELIFI, deputy vice-president for human resources of the metropolis, in a press release published Tuesday.
The device must "strengthen gender equality and promote the balance between personal and professional life," says Bruno Bernard, president of the metropolis of Lyon. "This experiment has been calibrated on the school agenda so that agents can take into account this proposed flexibility in their family organization," says the metropolis.

This alternative work organization "will last throughout the 2023-2024 school year" and "will make it possible to evaluate the possible generalization of the device and its deployment from September 1, 2024". It is necessary to ensure that "the community is able to carry out the experiment while maintaining the quality of public service".
In detail, nearly 120 services will be represented during this experiment, which will eventually target nearly 5,500 agents (or 57% of the city's workforce). "All the major types of professions will be represented as well as the hierarchical levels: administrative positions, support functions, agents working in the houses of the metropolis, project managers, managers or directors. "
Balance sheet in six months
The press release indicates that "a first assessment will be carried out after 6 months thanks to many evaluation criteria of the system such as, for example, the distribution of experimental agents (men and women, evolution of part-time to full-time, perception of the contributions of the different scenarios, evolution of team schedules, impact on teleworking, impact on absenteeism or workload ...)".
The four-day week has met with many followers, especially since the Covid-19 epidemic.
