How Dailymotion wants to appeal to Gen Z

DECRYPTION - The platform, a subsidiary of Vivendi, will inaugurate a new version of its application and aims for 1 billion users in 2026.


Dailymotion thinks much bigger. The French platform, acquired in 2015 by Vivendi, aims to "cross the milestone of one billion monthly users within three years and triple its audience, to 1.5 billion monthly users, within 5 years," announces Maxime Saada, its CEO and also Chairman of the Management Board of the Canal+ group. There is still some way to go since the video-sharing site, present in 145 territories, currently claims nearly 400 million, far from the more than 2 billion YouTube. But the Vivendi subsidiary is confident. "In 2017, Dailymotion's audience did not exceed 300 million monthly users," recalls Maxime Saada. And every year, we show double-digit revenue growth." If Dailymotion "is not yet profitable", this horizon, however, "begins to take shape".
