"The circumstantial picture" against the 45-year-old Taulant Malaj, the Albanian baker who on the night between Saturday and Sunday killed his 16-year-old daughter Jessica and the alleged lover of his wife, 51-year-old Massimo De Santis, "was consolidated with the vision of the videos" of the cameras in the house "which filmed the scenes in which the man repeatedly struck both his wife and daughter with clear homicidal will".
As for "the murder of the young Jessica", 16 years old, "who courageously tried in every way and until the end to defend her mother from the brutal aggression of her father", it is clear "that the blows were also inflicted on her voluntarily, not only when she intervened at first in the bedroom, but also when the aggression continued in the living room".
On Jessica's body, the documents read, "four stab wounds were found in the chest, home to vital organs". "In the same way - we read again - we can see the obstinacy with which he pounces on his wife surprising her in the middle of the night while she is in bed, striking multiple stabs even in the upper part of the body". "All this - highlights the investigating judge - took place under the eyes of the couple's youngest son".
According to the investigators "the brutal ways of carrying out the facts show in the suspect an absolute insensitivity towards human life and a common propensity to crime as a means of affirming his convictions and his role within the family".
The night between Saturday and Sunday, after killing Massimo De Santis, who he believed was his wife's lover, Malaj explained to investigators that he had gone to the bedroom "where my wife was; I hit her and in the meantime Jessica came in, who wanted to protect her mother. So I hit Jessica and killed her. I didn't realize it was her. Jessica unfortunately found herself at the wrong time. The two of them fled from the bed to the kitchen where I continued to hit them." It is a passage from Malaj's confession.
Malaj used a switchblade knife 18 centimeters long. To call for help was the wife of the murderer, Tefta Malaj, who survived the attack because she was defended by Jessica. Tefta repeated "stabbed" to the 118 operator, and when the operator asked her if she had been stabbed, the woman could hardly answer "yes" and then added: "my daughter, my daughter".
