Hand on heart: How do you prefer to spend your time on the balcony? If you are honest with yourself, it will be much easier to design.
If you have a balcony, you can consider yourself lucky. However, it should not only be used for drying clothes, as a storage space for the barbecue or for the empty beverage crates. But in spring and summer above all as a place of well-being. Do you still need some inspiration for balcony design? Here are a few suggestions.
1. How do you spend most of your time on the balcony?
Rule number one: Be aware of how you spend your time on the balcony most often. A table that is too large could clutter up your balcony; You should also ask yourself how many hours you really spend on the balcony eating. A small, round table takes up less space and is sufficient in most cases. Basically, always be honest with yourself: Are you the person who invites many guests to the balcony to your home? Or do you prefer to enjoy time alone or as a couple in a deck chair with a coffee or two or a cold drink? Then you can combine folding chairs and folding loungers well and still have enough space on the balcony. Light beach or camping loungers may also be better suited than large wooden furniture, especially on small balconies. An alternative to the folding chair are stackable chairs. If you have room for some pretty outdoor rattan furniture instead, you can choose a bench that also serves as a chest for the seat cushions.

2. Do you want to walk around barefoot on the balcony in summer?
Even a cool concrete floor can quickly make the balcony uncomfortable. If you like to walk around barefoot at home, you will certainly want to walk around on the balcony in summer. If it's warm enough, no problem. But a warmer floor is more comfortable, preferably made of a natural-looking material. If you have the time and muse, you can, for example, lay click tiles made of wood or wood substitute materials on the floor. If the balcony is not covered, an outdoor carpet for the balcony may be more suitable as an uncomplicated, faster option. Such outdoor carpets are available, for example, made of materials with plastic fibers that are robust in the rain and easy to clean.

Popular balcony flowers include, for example, hydrangeas, lavender, geraniums, oleanders, clematis, petunias and the easy-care begonias. For the less experienced, various herbs are suitable on the balcony, including oregano, thyme and lemon balm, which are easy to care for - so you also have a few fresh spices ready when grilling on the balcony.
