There are two risks to be alone in front of Landscape with sheaves of wheat and rising moon by Vincent van Gogh, from today at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa with the innovative format '5 minutes face to face with a masterpiece'. The first is to want to stretch out your hand to at least try to touch an object of desire, the second is to be hypnotized by the waves created by the brushstrokes of the great Dutchman and not want to leave. Palazzo Ducale replicates the formula of great success applied during the pandemic to Monet's Water Lilies and, taking advantage of the shady and intense atmosphere of the Doge's Chapel, invites visitors to sit five minutes alone to admire one of van Gogh's great works. Landscape with sheaves of wheat and rising moon had already been exhibited in the great exhibition on Van Gogh in Rome (Palazzo Bonaparte, a great success decreed by almost 600 thousand visits) and now it is here, in the hyperbolic Dogal Chapel of Palazzo Ducale in Genoa. Artfully illuminated, Landscape with sheaves of wheat and rising moon offers the viewer a distillation of van Gogh's emotions, who replicated what he saw from the window with the bars of the asylum of Saint-Rémy de Provence, demonstrating once again that art is an extension, concretization and expansion of one's state of mind. For this reason, admiring so closely and in solitude Landscape with sheaves of wheat and moon rising knowing what it represented for the great artist persecuted by demons, reading every single brushstroke, admiring that moon that has the same warm splendor of the sun, is an adrenaline experience. "It seemed to us the right time for this - said the director of the Ducale Serena Bertolucci - and we do it with the hope of offering something more. It is an innovative format that we hope will be increasingly appreciated. This painting was chosen because it frames a precise moment in the painter's life - explains Bertolucci -: van Gogh in the asylum paints what he sees from behind bars. In the coming weeks we will provide masks that reproduce the bars for an extra detail that adds to the artist's mood". Curated by Costantino D'Orazio, Cinque minuti con van Gogh (Palazzo Ducale di Genova, from 12 May to 10 September 2023 in the Doge's Chapel) is organized by Arthemisia (the same company promoting the Palazzo Bonaparte exhibition) in collaboration with the Kröller-Müller Museum of Otterlo, Palazzo Ducale Fondazione per la Cultura, Comune di Genova and Regione Liguria.
