Top 15 industries with the highest salaries: insurance and banking at the forefront
The kununu platform conducts a large paycheck every year. For 2023, the portal analyzed more than 566,000 salary statements of employees in Germany. However, only salaries of full-time employees are included in the ranking. Part-time employees, trainees or interns are not included in the evaluation. The values shown are the average gross annual salaries.
As kununu writes in the 2023 paycheck, the average gross annual salary in Germany is 48,538 euros. Hesse is the state with the highest average salaries. But even in these jobs in Baden-Württemberg, high salaries can be achieved. But which industries pay the highest salaries overall and where are employees most satisfied with their salaries?

According to the analysis, insurance companies in Germany pay the best. The average annual salary of 59,629 euros is more than respectable. According to kununu, employee salary satisfaction is also a top value of 70.2 percent. For all those who do not find their industry in the ranking: Many of the industries mentioned are perfect for a lateral entry without any professional experience in these areas. The five best-paid skilled trades in Germany also easily come close to the salary in the above-mentioned careers.
These industries pay the highest salary depending on gender
Even in 2023, women and men in the same jobs and positions will not yet be paid equally. While the average salary for women in Germany is 43,436 euros per year, men receive 51,651 euros per year. Women are well paid in these nine professions. But in which industries can women and men earn the most? kununu also carried out an analysis here and evaluated industries with at least 1,000 data points.
