After low ratings and to make room for new formats, some series do not survive the decision-making process before and during the upfronts every year. These series of the US network FOX could not escape a cancellation and will be terminated accordingly.
The 2022/2023 TV season also started hopefully on the American network FOX last year with some fresh shows. Thus, four new (scripted) TV series were sent into the race together with its established programs. Overall, the yield was relatively okay: Only one newcomer was given the dreaded red pencil, which is denied a new season, at least under the banner of FOX...
So only "Monarch" had to pack his bags again after the first season. Somewhat surprisingly, the medical series "The Resident" got it despite decent numbers, while formats like "Call Me Kat" and "Fantasy Island" were already in the ratings cellar anyway, so that a cancellation in these cases was at least not a big surprise. So here is the whole list of this year's cancellations.
Note: As things stand, not all decisions have been made in full. For example, the future of "Welcome to Flatch", which will be decided after the WGA strike, and "Housebroken" are still open.
The Resident
Unfortunately, the hospital is closing its doors, because "The Resident", which runs in this country under the title "Atlanta Medical", has not been renewed, even if the medical drama is the strongest among the cancelled series in terms of numbers. The rating of 0.34 and the average audience of 2.8 million ensured that the company landed in eighth place in the target group, but this was not enough to elicit another season from those responsible for the station.
