Shavuot 2023: Best cheesecakes, recommendations to buy a good cheesecake, including Greco, Biscotti, Mickey Shmo, Roladin, Central Boutique, Dalal, Bakery, Breads, Babka Bakery and more

It's very possible that Rosh Hashanah and Passover take over the focus of Jewish holidays in a way that doesn't leave much room for all the other happy holidays on the calendar. Perhaps this is also rightly so, and the result of many years of tradition and effective consensus. But between us, we all love Shavuot the most, don't we?

All the recipes, all the magic: Shavuot's

big food page Because it's not just a holiday table crammed with crispy pastries and molds that stretch the rules of the genre to the Italian-Balkan worlds. It is also, and most importantly, a sweet and continuous dessert carnival, culminating in cheesecakes as far as the eye can see, which only gets better and better from year to year. Speaking of these, get the best of them, outstanding weeks 2023. Happy holiday, and enjoy!

Dalal

Shavuot in Dalal (Photo: Assaf Carla)

Given that this is not a competition, and given that on this particular holiday everyone is smiling anyway, we will not write here that Dalal won Shavuot. We won't write, but maybe we will hint.

The veteran pastry shop in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood of Tel Aviv prepared for these happy days with a concept of "thinking big", and with a corresponding menu led by Timor Lavi, which left us - how can we say this without talking again about winners, and necessarily also about those who did not win? - Spichels.

You can find here the "cheesecake", excellent in itself, in three sizes (39-168 NIS) and with berry upgrades (at an additional cost), Tuscan quiche (artichoke, kalamata olives, dried tomatoes, feta cheese, 120 NIS) with presence, salty and slightly sweet onion and cheese quiche and also an obvious departure in the form of a huge burekas-sabih, 40 cm of crunch and crumbs of happiness, with a quartet of jars that turn it into "treats" (slices of hard-boiled eggs, Slices of baked eggplant, tahini, tomato salsa with olive oil and pickled cucumber, 124 shekels).

And now, let's talk about the trifle, which is a pair of family jars (but from large extended families), a kilo and a half of gluten-free layered dessert, which comes either as a white trifle (cheese cream, butter streusel, genoese, white chocolate and salted caramel, NIS 168), or as a red trifle (mascarpone cream, raspberry coli, pistachio decoise and berry mix, for the same price), and silences at one of the bustling holiday tables, with a game of spoons (long), A game of textures (variety) and especially a wonderful sweet game.

Breads

Uri Sheft's wonderful bakery manages to remember the true essence of the holiday, and marks weeks of firstborn tusks harvest.

This means, among other things, a new and special edition of products that will make up an entire holiday meal for you - pastries, challot, quiches, cakes, cheeses and wines - and also means a spring-summer festival that is much more than cheesecakes.

You can find here, for example, handmade butter-based puff pastry and crispy dough, frozen puff pastry pastries, including spinach and cheese snails, pizza snails, cheese borekas and mini cheese sticks.

The holiday menu includes "bikurim bread" (confit garlic focaccia with vine leaves, thyme olive oil and garnished with a cluster of grapes, 44 shekels) that amazes guests and hosts, babaka ricotta and blueberries, spinach pastry and cheeses made of butter-based puff pastry, "cheesecake like old times" based on Breton dough, cheese blintzes and raisins, as well as salty babka roses with feta and za'atar in a Kaunas pot (84 shekels), which apparently straightened out on its own because we don't remember it reaching the table at all.

Apart from these, there are also excellent quiches based on crunchy dough (zucchini and asparagus, for example, sheep cheese or onion quiche), classic baked cheesecake, as well as 70% Belgian chocolate mousse and olive oil.

We Like You Too

Shavuot at We Like You Too (Photo: Nadav Aviram)

The Tel Aviv food group celebrates Shavuot with one queen still reigning, and quite a few other temptations that compare and lift.

You can find here the Basque cheesecake (NIS 130-210), which stands proud even years after its exposure to the Israeli public, and certainly one of the only ones here that are *really* Basque. Besides it, and also a cheese and peach mousse cake (Sabrisolona cookie, blood peach confit, cheese mousse and peach tea covered with sour cream, 130 shekels) that did right with the dough-frosting division and did even more correctly with original flavors, and a real fruity castor.

The salty section offers a tena pastry (wrapped brioche dough, bechamel, ricotta cheese and basil cream, garden vegetables, 64 shekels) that is stunning in appearance, warms up excellently, and buttery to the point of "you can't do better another piece", shipka honeycomb and sumac (29 shekels) and also the "pastry of the gods" (filo sheets filled with a mixture of cheeses and black pepper, honey glaze and foam, 64 shekels) that danced beautifully on all the movements of the tongue.

Monnier and Karin Goren

Shavuot by Monnier and Karin Goren (Photo: Shahaf Bagger)

It's hard to decipher it from the picture, but the catering company's weekly pop-up (Wednesday-Thursday, May 24-25) is out of all familiar proportion, and in a good way, of course.

This is an obvious collaboration between Maurice Monnier and Karin Goren, whose shellish purpose is a huge Pavlova, half a meter of corruption and temptations, sweet traps and surprises - which will be enough for all those who attend the holiday dinner, and also for those who stay the day after.

This dessert comes prepared, in a box that requires a crane and approval from the traffic police, and offers a huge meringue rectangle, filled with balanced mascarpone cream, and full of ornaments such as macarons, petit fours, small puffs, squares of cheesecake and colorful fruit. Another option is a self-assembly kit, which brings all that goodness home in a disassembled way, and then rewards quality family time with some of the best you can absorb. Price: 350 NIS.

Alongside them, there are also yeast cakes such as ricotta crunch and pistachio praliné, cheese strudel, ricotta brioche and amarana cheese tiger, striped cakes such as lemon cheese meringue (cream cheese caramble, baked cream cheese, lemon cream, chonetti cream and meringue kisses), high looking and balanced taste, berry tiramisu, crumb cheese mousse, and millepay.

The collection of quiches includes a version of sweet potato, beetroot, spinach-zucchini, potato and mushroom gratin, onions, and a melanzana arbiata quiche with eggplant, roasted peppers, tomatoes and hot peppers, which was a holiday meal in itself, long before the holiday.

From the bakery come out at the same time garlic brioche and herbs impossible to restraint, olive rustic bread, turmeric honeycomb with pumpkin seeds, spinach and garlic, round challah, cheese plot and kalamata olives, and what not.

Biscotti

The veteran pastry shop led by Rosella Yona celebrates Shavuot "White in a Sweet Dream", with a professional, spectacular and mostly unconventional collection.

You can find here, among others, holiday cakes (72 NIS per stripe, 148 NIS for a 20-diameter cake) such as "Blueberry" (blueberry cake, vanilla cheese cream, blueberry cream, white chocolate ganache frosting) which is a cake to bring and see how everyone gaps here twice, "Sinimini" (butter cookies, baked cinnamon cream, New York baked cheese, cinnamon cream, Chantilly cream and caramel pearls) delicate in its cinnamony, "Gabinugat" (baked cheese combined with crème nougat, A crunchy dough bottom, vanilla cream cream, Belgian chocolate disc and caramelized hazelnuts) is sweeter, as are cheese lilies and apricot (yeast crunch filled with ricotta cheese and apricot confiture, NIS 58).

Alongside them, Biscotti also offers old salty hits in the form of quiches and lasagnas, as well as Rosetta Manchego and dried tomatoes (yeast crunch lilies, Manchego cheese, dried tomatoes and Kalamata olives, NIS 58) and Rosetta Feta and Spinach (yeast crunch roses, feta cheese and spinach leaves), "Basque on Salty" - a cheese pastry (feta, pecorino and cream) combined with broccoli and mushrooms on a luxurious salted caramel bottom (NIS 132) and "Bogacha" (filo pastry filled with cheese).

Boutique Central

The baking and sweets chain is celebrating weeks inspired by beloved regions of France, a lovely idea with execution accordingly.

Provence cheesecake, for example, is a baked cheesecake seasoned with rosemary and lavender (NIS 130), a champagne cheesecake seasoned with white wine and decorated with a layer of blueberries (NIS 142, NIS 69 per pass) and provided a dramatic entrance and a classic combination, while Brittany cheesecake (NIS 158) caramelized and hid under its brown veil a creamy, Basque style core, and one that never ceases to magnetize forks and spoons.

Apart from these, there are also classics such as crumb cheesecake, baked cheese, tiramisu and Philadelphia, as well as savory quiches, personal and family pastries and proper solutions for vegans.
