Tension in the relationship between the bride and mother-in-law is a common situation in almost every ordinary family, probably even when it comes to the royal family. Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, was "angry" with Camilla during the coronation and therefore did not bow to the new queen, according to author Tom Bauer, who wrote the biography of the royal family "Revenge".
Bauer explains that this is an extreme move on Middleton's part and reflects signs of tension between her and her stepmother-in-law.

"If you look at the coronation footage, when the King and Queen leave their thrones and head to the exit of Westminster Abbey, you can see that everyone bows and bows to the King, but when the Queen passes they don't move. William and Kate were angry. At that moment it was completely noticeable."

The reason for the tension between the two, according to Bauer, is that Middleton was only allowed to invite four members of her family, while Camilla invited twenty family members.
Bower claims that William paid no attention to the Queen the next day, noting that tensions put King Charles in a "dangerous position."
