Today is the 12th Global Accessibility Awareness Day, a day to raise awareness on access and inclusion of new technologies. The first edition was held in May 2012 at the behest of Joe Devon and Jennison Asuncion, and since then it has been organized every third Thursday of May.

"An annual event created to raise awareness among those involved in digital systems on the issue of accessibility and disability. The comparison with people with disabilities is essential to improve people's quality of life and support access and use of digital technologies in everyone's daily life - says the Minister for Disability Alessandra Locatelli on Facebook - The development of new technologies promotes inclusion by offering more opportunities to communicate, work and participate in social life. Technologies have advanced rapidly over time and it is always important to support research and development for the #accessibilità, and also to make the use of inclusive technologies increasingly available, widespread and possible throughout our territory".

Many technology companies have taken the field over the years to promote the inclusion of people with different types of motor and hearing disabilities.

Apple in the last hours has unveiled some news about it, including a function that will allow you to recreate, thanks to artificial intelligence, your voice to use in case of communication problems in the iPhone and iPad apps. Samsung, on the other hand, has focused on the audio listening part by updating the app of its latest earbuds, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, to offer new levels of sound customization. According to WHO data, more than 5% of the world's population, about 466 million people, has hearing loss that affects quality of life and it is estimated that by 2050 more than 900 million people (or 1 in 10) will have disabling hearing loss.
