The Cannes Film Festival had already announced an "exceptional tribute" to Harrison Ford. The Hollywood legend, who came to present the world premiere of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" on the Croisette, received Thursday evening a Palme d'or of honor before the screening of the film. "I am deeply touched by this distinction," said the 80-year-old American actor, visibly very moved, who also thanked his wife after receiving the award from Thierry Frémaux, the Festival's general delegate.
By announcing that the fifth part of the adventures of the famous archaeologist would be shown on the Croisette, the organizers had announced that an "exceptional tribute" would be paid to the actor, but without giving more details.
Harrison Ford was surprised with an honorary Palme d'Or at the #Cannes2023 premiere of #IndianaJones.

Michael Douglas also honored
A figure in Hollywood cinema, he has played a wide range of characters, from Han Solo in the "Star Wars" saga to "Blade Runner", the adventurer with the hat and whip he has played since 1981 and the first episode, "Raiders of the Lost Ark". "Indiana Jones 5" is set to hit theaters in late June.

Tom Cruise, who came to Cannes last year to premiere "Top Gun: Maverick", also received a surprise Palme d'Or before the screening of the feature film. This year, another big name in American cinema, Michael Douglas, 78, received the same distinction on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the Festival.
