(ANSA) - MOSCOW, 18 MAY - The Duma, the lower branch of the Russian Parliament, approved at third and final reading amendments that provide for the possibility of "forced and controlled deportation" of people from the territories where martial law was introduced, and therefore the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, partly occupied by Russian troops. Novaya Gazeta Europe reports.
In addition, the draft law provides that security forces can detain for 30 days persons accused of violating "prohibitions and restrictions" established by presidential decrees in territories where martial law applies.
