It was supposed to be the grand finale of the hit series, but except for a handful of likable/amusing moments, the result is mostly ridiculous • With a budget estimated at $340 million, we would expect much more than that

With an estimated budget of $340 million, Fast & Furious 10 is one of the most expensive films in human history. He's also one of the stupidest of them.

Fans of the series are unlikely to complain too much. It is full of beatings and chases, a plethora of outlandish and outrageous stunts that ignore the laws of physics and common sense, a "plot" that seems to have been written by a 6-year-old, countless guest appearances by big action stars, and plenty of "dramatic" moments that provoke bursts of laughter without meaning to. But in terms of quality, the tenth episode is dozens of kilometers away from the peaks of Fast & Furious 5 (the best film in the series by far), and it's hard to say that it renews much (if at all).

In what is supposed to be the first part of the super-hit Grand Finale, this time the story sends Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his motorized friends into a fateful, cross-continental confrontation with Dante Rice (Jason Momoa), the chatty, flamboyant and psychopathic son of the Brazilian villain we met in Fast & Furious 5.

Fast & Furious 10 - The Official Trailer

Dante wants revenge on the gang responsible for his father's death, and to this end he has devised a chaotic, murderous and senseless plan that is supposed to cause them great suffering. In practice, despite his overconfidence and frequent giggles, it's not exactly clear what the hell he's doing (I wonder if the screenwriters know).

As is customary in the series, the number of characters only continues to grow. In addition to the original gang, the current tour also features the bad guys from the previous films (Charlize Theron, John Cena and Jason Statham), as well as Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Alan Ritchson (Reacher) as tough federal agents. Another not very welcome addition is that of a guy named Leo Abloh Perry, who plays Toretto's snooty and snooty son.

Mediocre director Louis Leteria ("The Incredible Hulk") — who was called in to replace series architect Justin Lin after he abruptly retired after a week of filming — is doing his best to take control of the hundreds of pieces that make up the monstrous blockbuster entrusted to him, and to balance them. But with the exception of a handful of likable/amusing moments (most of which feature John Cena), the result is mostly ridiculous. But laughter isn't necessarily a bad thing. Nonetheless - a film in the "Fast and Furious" series.
