Including a special complex for drones and WeWork Academic: Bar-Ilan University inaugurated a new building for the Department of Computer Science this week, intended to be used for research and learning. The building was built at a cost of NIS 100 million and was inspired by the acclaimed science fiction film, "Source Code".
The building covers about 7,000 square meters, with more than half of the built-up area dedicated to research. About 1400 students and faculty will occupy the new Alexander Grass Computer Science Building, which will include 36 research labs, an auditorium and a 750-square-meter learning space with 9 WeWork-style learning spaces that can be booked through an app.
The advanced complex will also include a fully equipped kitchen, lockers and changing rooms for refreshment. The research experience focuses on interdisciplinarity, and accordingly the structure was designed to encourage research collaboration with many common thinking areas for researchers and students.

Zohar Yinon, Senior Vice President and CEO of Bar-Ilan University, said upon completion of the construction: "The new computer science building has a combination of structural engineering and human engineering, which has created a complex that on the one hand will train the future generation of the start-up nation and on the other hand a platform for groundbreaking research in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics."
The project's architects are Shem-Tov Zruya, Raleigh Gavrieli, Haim Zuaretz and Shirley Goldner of the Yaski Mor Sivan architectural firm.
