Which recipes are suitable for using leftover protein?

In principle, all dishes and cakes that require mere protein are eligible. But even in classic egg dishes such as scrambled eggs, the separated egg whites provide an extra load of protein. In some recipes, the application is surprising: fried potatoes become particularly crispy with egg whites. We have collected a few ideas for you on how to use leftover protein:

  • Meringue
  • Macaroons
  • Protein pancakes
  • Icing

Another application: clear cloudy soups or stocks. The egg whites set due to the heat and stirring. The turbid substances thus rise to the surface.

Protein leftovers: Mix drinks with pure protein

  • Amaretto Sour
  • Continental Sour
  • New York Sour
  • Tequila Sour
  • Brandy Sour
  • Irish Sour

How long does protein last – can it be frozen?

Sometimes there is no acute use for leftover protein. Then it goes into the refrigerator. There, the protein will keep for about three days. Need more time? Freeze the egg whites. To do this, just put it in a freezer bag. This extends the shelf life to ten months and gives you more time to use protein residues. Do you need to use egg yolk instead? Leftover yolk can be used in the kitchen and cosmetology.
