"This evening is not an official party but a family dinner." It is with these words that Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Festival de Cannes, accompanied by his partner Iris Knobloch, launched this Friday, May 19 on the beach of Carlton the new edition of the Chopard Trophy. Launched in 2001, this prize rewards each year the male and female revelations of cinema. Audrey Tautou, Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Florence Pugh, Niels Schneider, François Civil, Jeremy Irvine... are all among the lucky winners of this award that counts. Through this event, Caroline Scheufele, co-president and director and artistic director of Chopard - who designed the trophy herself in the shape of a ribbon of film film in silver covered with gold - affirms her support and love for cinema.

Natalie Portman, godmother the good fairy

This year, the Chopard family welcomed two new emerging talents: Naomi Ackie and Daryl McCormack, respectively seen in Whitney Houston: I wanna danse with Somebody by Kasi Lemmons and Mes rendez-vous avec Léo by Sophie Hyde. On stage, Chinese actress Tang Wei (Lust, Caution), a friend of Chopard who herself received the trophy in 2008, told how she had lived this dream day and evening when she was only a beginner. She then gave way to the star godmother of this year's trophy: Natalie Portman. In her sparkling blue strapless dress by Dior, the actress and director congratulated and encouraged the new winners. In her 30-year career, the Israeli-American has carved out a special place for herself in international cinema and this week she will walk the red carpet at the Palais des Festival to present Todd Haynes' film, May December, selected in official competition.

Choice guests

Having become an unmissable event at the Cannes Film Festival, the Chopard Trophy dinner brought together guests of choice including Ruben Östlung, the president of this 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, its jurors Julia Ducournau, Paul Dano, Brie Larson, Denis Ménochet... but also the jury of the Un Certain Regard selection, chaired by John C. Reilly, with Alice Winocour, Paula Beer, Davy Chou and Emilie Dequenne. In a cheerful and warm atmosphere, guests were able to enjoy the menu of two-star chef Bruno Oger (Zucchini flower, Breton lobster and lemon dessert accompanied by its orange sorbet). At the end of the dinner, the singer Juliette Armanet was called to the microphone to the delight of festival-goers. Thus, we could see Carla Bruni, Raphaël Personnaz, Clotilde Courau, Karidja Touré, Hafsia Herzi, Cédric Klapisch, Lola Doillon, or Abdel Malik rejoice in this private show case.

A disco tune

Seeing the room slightly timid, the singer (also seen in Stéphanie Di Giusto's film, Rosalie, presented in the Un Certain Regard section this year), mixed with her audience to end up standing on a table, singing her hit The Last Day of Disco, and in front of the amazed eyes of Natalie Portman and John C. Reilly. Finishing her show at the piano, Juliette Armanet, filmed closely by JR, ended up greeting her audience under a shower of roses initiated by Rossy de Palma. Carried by the atmosphere of this unique concert, the most adventurous guests continued the evening on the Terrasse by Albane installed on the rooftop of the Marriott Hotel, when those, asked to get up early the next morning to attend a screening, left with a disco tune in stereo.
