Even the program of the Cannes Film Festival seems to respect the biblical tradition of the seventh day.

After a weekend of red carpets and consecrated stars, there is room for two competition films, a couple of nice surprises at Un Certain Regard, some scattered titles and the most classic menu in the other sections.

On the program: - ANATOMIE D'UNE CHUTE by Justine Triet with Milo Machado Graner, Sandra Hüller, Swann Arlaud. IN COMPETITION. The eyes of a visually impaired child on the destruction of his family. To devote themselves to him, his parents, Sandra and Samuele, went to live isolated in the mountains. Until after a year, Samuel is found dead a step away from home and soon the investigations blame his mother rejecting the hypothesis of suicide. In court, the boy is a witness and victim of an investigation that seems to ignore pity.

- FIREBRAND by Karim Ainouz with Anna Mawn, Alicia Vikander, Jude Law. IN COMPETITION. Catherine Parrr, the only surviving wife of Henry VIII, is a character little investigated by the history of the turbulent English court. Here the Brazilian director relies on the dazzling screenplay of the Answorth sisters to tell the plots woven, the difficulties in surviving in a ruthless male-dominated world by a woman who knew the art of complicity and sisterhood.

- THE BREAKING ICE by Anthony Chen with Zhou Dongyu, Chuxiao Qu, Liu Haoran. UN CERTAIN REGARD. A sort of "Jules et Jim" at the extreme border of China with Korea. Here Haofeng disembarks, invited to a wedding, and discovers a beautiful friendship with the tour guide Nana who introduces him to his friend Xiao. As the winter passes, the trio finds themselves deeply linked...

- IF ONLY I COULD HIBERNATE by Zoljargal Purevdash with Battsooj Uurtsaikh, Nominjiguur Tsend, Tuguldur Batsaikhan. UN CERTAIN REGARD. We are in Ulaanbaatar where the normalization of Mongolian nomads jeopardizes families and traditions. Young Ulzii is preparing a competition when his mother decides to take a job away from home and leaves her three children alone. Torn between the need to support his brothers and the desire to study and emancipate, the boy risks getting into trouble. One of the potential surprises of the selection.

- BONNARD, PIERRE ET MARTHE by Martin Provost with Cécile de France, Vincent Macaigne, Stacy Martin. OUT OF COMPETITION. A journey to discover the enigmatic Marthe, the muse of the work of Pierre Bonnard, a fashionable impressionist painter. Costume cinema triumphs

- LE LIVRE DES SOLUTIONS by Michel Gondry with Pierre Niney, Blanche Gardin, Françoise Lebrun, Vincent Elbaz. DIRECTORS' FORTNIGHT. A filmmaker in crisis, Marc leaves the set and with the whole crew takes refuge with his aunt Denise in the Cevennes. Here the opposite happens: the ideas are too many and the director throws himself into a new adventure: a practical guide that could be an alternative to the film. With Gondry's cinema, surprise is always around the corner.

- BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD BLACKBERRY by Elene Naveriani with Eka Chavleishvili, Teimuraz Chinchinadze. DIRECTORS' FORTNIGHT. At 48 years old without ever a love, Ethero, the protagonist of the story is jealous of her independence and her life as a free woman. Instead, she will challenge the prejudices and habits of the Georgian village where she lives when she finally meets the man she likes. But will she accept to give up a part of herself for coexistence?
