"Let's listen to the science, let's listen to what the world is telling us." Harrison Ford warned about the climate emergency Sunday night in an interview broadcast on France 2 on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival. And the actor, known for his role in "Star Wars", "Indiana Jones" (for which he resumes at 80 years his role of archaeological adventurer in the fifth opus of the saga) or "The Fugitive" also deplores the inaction of governments on the subject.
"If we do not move our ass now, we will lose this planet! ", warned Harrison Ford in front of Laurent Delahousse, as part of a relocated show on the Croisette on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival. "Science is science, based on facts, it is not an opinion," said the American actor, denouncing those who "denigrate science" and challenge the climate emergency in front of us.

"You have to respect the science. She brought us medicine, space... It has brought us wealth. Let's listen to the science, let's listen to what the world is telling us," Ford said. He tells us that he is being abused, that we are destroying nature's ability to serve us. "Our future depends on science and recognizing the truth about what is happening before our eyes," the actor continued, while embracing his passion for aviation.
A climate activist
Harrison Ford's stance is neither a surprise nor news. In February 2019, the actor posted on Twitter a video in which he called for the fight against global warming. "It is up to you and me to act now in the face of the greatest moral crisis of our time. It's time to make a difference," he implored. A few months earlier, at the Global Climate Action Summit, the actor had expressed his anger against climate sceptic policies and had already denounced the inaction of governments around the world.
The climate emergency has already been invited several times to the Cannes Film Festival this year. On Saturday, environmental activists tried to block air traffic at Cannes-Mandelieu airport with remote-controlled cars. Others have denounced the arrival of ultra-polluting yachts. 80% of the CO2 emissions of the Cannes Film Festival are caused by the travel of the stars by plane, their stay on yachts moored in the bay as well as the accommodation of the public.
