How to choose the right lighting for your terrace and walkways?
Lighting the outside of your house is nice to be able to enjoy your garden or terrace in summer, but also simply go home when it is dark. Beautiful lighting enhances your exterior and highlights specific places.
It is therefore important to choose your lighting carefully. Several criteria are to be taken into consideration depending on the needs and what you want for your exterior, the first thing being to choose waterproof lighting and specifically designed for the outdoors.
Some criteria to consider:
- the power of light: today, with LED technology, the power is expressed in lumen (lux/m²). The more lumens a luminaire offers, the more effectively it illuminates. As an equivalence, a 1W LED is equivalent to about 10W for an incandescent bulb, or a light intensity of about 100Lm. To mark an alley, a power of 100 to 200 Lm is enough to illuminate sufficiently. For an entrance or outdoor parking, we recommend a power between 300 and 700 Ml, more secure.
- The type of lighting: you have to choose it according to your needs and desires. Thus, an outdoor wall lamp is ideal for illuminating the entrance of your home or terrace while a floor lamp provides a soft and cozy atmosphere.
