The two late cultural figures Meir Shalev and Yehonatan Geffen, who recently passed away, received a nice tribute when two zebra foals born in the past month were named after them.
The new foal, born about a week ago and weighing an estimated 30 kilograms, is already roaming the African savannah and can be seen alongside her mother.
The new foal joins another foal that was born about a month ago. "In recent days, we have seen that the two show interest in each other and even play together from time to time," they say on safari.
Zebra foals are born with brown and white stripes in order to have better camouflage, and only in adulthood will the brown stripes turn black.

"We chose to honor the work of cultural legends"
We chose to honor the work of cultural legends Meir Shalev z"l and Yehonatan Geffen z"l on safari as well, and it was clear to us what is the most respectful way to do so," the safari spokesperson said.
The young zebras were given the names Geffen and Shalev, in memory of the two talented creators whose love of animals was an inseparable part of their creations.
