Following the overcrowding of IVF units in the private health system, the Ministry of Health contacted the directors of IVF units in hospitals on Monday to examine the possibility of transferring activity to public units as soon as possible.
In a letter sent today, unit managers are asked to examine whether they will meet the addition of treatment cycles in the near future, assuming that it will be possible to choose a treating physician and appropriate compensation for the doctors.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement, "In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of IVF treatments in Israel performed in privately owned medical institutions. This increase has raised the need to increase and ensure the mechanisms required to maintain the quality and safety of care in this system, particularly in the areas of ensuring working conditions, manpower, and appropriate infrastructure."
In addition, and following a number of processes and discussions at the Ministry of Health, which began even before the recent exceptional cases that took place in the two IVF units in Assuta's medical centers, Ministry of Health Director General Moshe Bar Siman Tov today appointed a team to examine the IVF system and formulate the necessary policy measures.
