With the current rising temperatures, we are looking for all kinds of ways to cool down. We look for shade, leave the blinds down or, if possible, ventilate the apartment crosswise. But how about swimming? It is not only easy on the joints and trains the entire body muscles, but also provides the appropriate cooling at high temperatures. These five novels are set in a swimming pool and provide a pleasant coolness.

Annika Büsing "Nordstadt"

In the north of the city, hopes hang as low as the November sky. Those who love here do not expect a happy ending. Especially not Nene, in her early twenties and lifeguard, who has her own unit of measurement for the accident. Their survival strategy: make paths, try to forget, be pragmatic.

Blurb / Steidl

Even when it comes to the problem district, the swimming pool there is a retreat for those who want to escape the city. Just dive in and cool down when the temperature rises. My Area

Another debut that takes place in the swimming pool. Tilda doesn't have it easy. At home, the situation is getting more and more out of control. It is a beautiful and gripping story at the same time. Heartwarming, with depth that puts the reader in a summer mood. Maybe even one of the best summer books of this year.

Blurb / Harper Collins

A historical novel, but far from all the romanticism that often clings to this genre. Therefore, an absolute reading recommendation for all those who are interested in the life of a young woman in post-war Germany up to the 1960s.
