A glass of chilled iced tea is just the thing for every hot summer day to cool down. Unfortunately, the purchased version usually contains flavor enhancers and, above all, a lot of sugar. If you want to drink a lot throughout the day with a clear conscience and don't want to stick to simple mineral water, you should try this healthier, homemade alternative to the delicious classic.

For four glasses (250 ml of iced tea each) you will need the following ingredients:

  • 500 g strawberries
  • 1 liter of water
  • 75 g sugar (alternatively, agave syrup or honey is also suitable for sweetening)
  • 3-4 tea bags (of your choice)
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Ice cubes (at will)
  • For garnish, optionally lemon balm

These teas are best for homemade iced tea

In addition to your favorite fruit or rooibos tea, all berry teas are of course particularly suitable for this strawberry iced tea.

But if you opt for a caffeinated black, green or jasmine tea for the ultimate refreshing summer drink, you can't go wrong.

    Tip: Throw away less

If it's hard to separate yourself from the strawberry greens, you don't have to: The stalk can be cooked together with the fruit without hesitation and can then be removed again before serving. If you don't mind drinking it, you can use and consume the strawberry in its entirety.
