The dresscode of the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival is strict and imperious. Bow ties for men and evening dresses for women are highly recommended and elegance, non-negotiable. Dressed in a red Dior haute couture dress with suspenders, ruffled neckline and corseted waist, Jennifer Lawrence seemed to have followed the rules this Sunday... except for one detail.

On the forearms of the 32-year-old actress slipped a shawl of the same fabric as the dress, mirage of Hollywood glamour of another time. And if she arrived at the presentation of the film Anatomy of a fall, by Justine Triet, on a pair of red pumps, Jennifer Lawrence preferred, to go down the steps, put on a pair of flip-flops. Black, plastic, flat and minimalist, the pair is decidedly a departure from all the rules.

The festival doesn't laugh with shoes. In 2015, several women said they were evicted from the red carpet where they arrived in flat shoes. The following year, Julia Roberts climbed the steps barefoot, thumbing her nose at the rigidity of the rules. But it seems that the star of The Hunger Games had a good reason, which is none other than his clumsiness.
Anatomy of its falls

Stumbling in the middle of a ceremony, a nightmare for some, is almost a habit for Jennifer Lawrence. She has to her credit a significant number of falls in cocktail outfit. In 2013, while going on stage to collect the Oscar for Best Actress in a four-million-dollar Dior dress, she collapsed on the steps, before grabbing Jean Dujardin's hand. The following year, still at the Oscars and still in Dior, she capsized on the red carpet, clinging as best she could to the back of the person next to her.
Two months later, in May 2014, at the premiere of X-Men, the star, in a Jason Wu dress, takes his feet in the steps. And in November 2015, at the premiere of The Hunger Games in Madrid in a Ralph Lauren dress, the actress lost her balance, and struggled to get up. A succession of falls, which Jennifer Lawrence seems to have wanted to put an end tonight at the Cannes Film Festival by replacing flashy heels with a pair of reassuring taps.
