Highlights: The Women In Motion evening is one of the most prestigious events of the Cannes Film Festival. Carla Bruni, Isabelle Huppert, Jason Statham and his wife Rosie Huntington-Whiteley were among the guests. The actress who won the Oscar and the Golden Globe with Everything Everywhere All at Once, Michelle Yeoh, is the first Asian woman to have won these trophies. Leonardo DiCaprio, special guest of the evening, came accompanied by Lily Gladstone, his partner in Martin Scorsese's Killers of The Flower Moon.

The first Asian woman to win the Oscar and the Golden Globe, the actress also received the Women in Motion award on Sunday, May 21 in Cannes.

Every year, the Women In Motion evening is one of the most prestigious events of the Cannes Film Festival. Carla Bruni, Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, Isabelle Huppert, Jason Statham and his wife Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Élodie Bouchez, Rebel Wilson, Julie Gayet, Eva Herzigova, Louise Bourgoin, Anaïs Demoustier, Raphaël Personnaz and the jury of the 76th Cannes Film Festival (President Ruben Östlund, Julia Ducournau...) were present at Place de la Castre, which, adorned with a thousand candles, welcomed back this unmissable event in the fight for parity and inclusion.

François-Henri Pinault opened the ball by paying tribute to Iris Knobloch, the first woman in history appointed president of the Cannes Film Festival. "Every woman left in the shadows is a loss for the world," she said before welcoming Kering's initiative, which, with Women In Motion, has been highlighting women in the world of art and culture since 2015 through talks, podcasts and awards. Winner of the Emerging Talent Award, the Swiss Carmen Jaquier shared her emotion with the assembly and then handed over the microphone to Thierry Frémaux.

"For all little girls who dream big"

The General Delegate of the Festival de Cannes had the honor of presenting the Women In Motion Award to Michelle Yeoh who, by winning the Oscar and the Golden Globes with Everything Everywhere All at Once, broke this year a double glass ceiling: at 60, she is the first Asian woman to have won these trophies. "I stand here before you for all the little girls who dream big, for all the young women who are starting their way, for all the women my age who come out of the boxes that have been assigned to them. I open the door for you. And we will never let it close again, "she said Sunday evening in Cannes under the eyes of her husband Jean Todt and an assembly that reserved a standing ovation.

Everyone stood up for the actress, from model Naomi Campbell to director Jeanne Herry (guest of a Women In Motion talk this year) without forgetting Leonardo DiCaprio, special guest of the evening on which all eyes and objectives were focused. The American superstar came accompanied by Lily Gladstone, his partner in Martin Scorsese's Killers of The Flower Moon. Dining opposite director Alfonso Cuarón and Salma Hayek Pinault, and next to Iris Knobloch, who has known him for a long time for having accompanied him to Cannes for the selection of The Gatsby (2013), the actor graciously accepted a few selfies. Especially with Elsa Zylberstein, one of his fans who also took the opportunity to express her admiration to Michelle Yeoh. And the latter to close the evening in style: she ignited the dance floor with the actress and member of the jury Brie Larson and thus gave body, while frenzied hips, to the "women in motion" honored by Women In Motion.
