The fifth and perhaps penultimate season of "The Conners" tried its hand at more dramatic storylines compared to the fourth season with mixed success. What was going on in Lanford?
The fifth season of the series "The Conners" went on ABC until this month and, according to showrunner Bruce Helford, could be the penultimate one, as he revealed before the official order of the sixth season. In the run-up to the event, there were renewed negotiations with the core cast and there was also the departure of Michael Fishman, which we welcome after we had repeatedly chalked up in past reviews how little the writers knew what to do with the DJ actor. However, he remains with the production as an occasional director, as he had already directed episodes from time to time since the third season.
Fishman was the baby of the Conner family from Lanford from the first "Roseanne" season in 1988 and thus the brother of Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Becky (Lecy Goranson) as well as the son of Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and Dan (John Goodman). However, he was not there from the beginning, but replaced the original DJ actor Sal Barone from the second episode of the series. In total, however, Fishman was only present in 36 episodes of the "Roseanne" revival and was often only seen in the background without getting his own storylines.
