(ANSA) - NAPLES, 23 MAY - The gup of Naples Tommaso Perrella has sent to trial the carabiniere accused of the aggravated voluntary murder of fifteen-year-old Ugo Russo, killed on the night of February 29, 2020, near the village of SantaLucia, in Naples, while trying to rob the almilitare watch in the company of an accomplice.
The decision of the gup came two hours after the end of the hearing during which the parties presented their theses and the Public Prosecutor of Naples (Simone de Roxas and Claudio Siragusa) asked for the trial for the military (defended by lawyers Mattia Floccher and Roberto Guida). The carabiniere, who has always maintained - and also reiterated in spontaneous statements made today - to have fired in self-defense, because the aggressor had pointed a weapon at him, was present. As for the other stages of the proceedings in the courtroom were also the parents of the young victim (defended by lawyers Giovanni Fusco, Antonio Mormile and Domenico Di Donato) and the mother at the sight of the carabiniere accused an illness. The husband accompanied her outside the courtroom and the woman recovered after the intervention of the ASL doctors stationed in Court. Outside the courthouse, as at the other hearings, the activists of the 'Truth and Justice for Ugo Russo' Committee gathered, including a banner with the boy's photo.
"We demand the truth about what happened. We have always had full confidence in the judiciary. Today, after almost three and a half years, we return home with the hope of knowing what really happened," said Ugo Russo's father after the decision of the investigating magistrate. "We live 24 hours a day with Ugo - added Russo - he was not the boy of that evening and we want to prove it. We never gave up and we thank those who were close". "We are not as they represented us - reiterated the father of Ugo Russo - and it is not justifiable in any way the reaction that the carabiniere had: my son was killed". (ANSA).
