People spend a lot of time at work. This is also reflected in the way we deal with colleagues. Sometimes friendships are formed on the job.
A little morning chat at the coffee machine or lunch together in the canteen – colleagues can brighten up your working day. Time flies faster and there is always someone there to ask for help directly. At least when you're in the office together. A study has shown that a good relationship with colleagues is more important to some employees than a salary increase.
Money or good colleagues? For some respondents, it's quite clear

52 percent of 5,058 respondents consider a good relationship with colleagues to be important, while the remaining 48 percent would prefer a 10 percent salary increase. That's what came out of the investigation of the Hubspot management platform. Employees from different countries were interviewed. For respondents from Germany, cohesion and loyalty among colleagues is much more important than a salary increase. Here, 63 percent of those surveyed prefer good cooperation among colleagues to a salary increase (37 percent).

If you work hybrid, you come to the office for your team members from time to time
Flexible and decentralised working options are increasingly in demand. Many employees have become accustomed to the freedoms that come with it during the Corona pandemic. For some, however, they still go to the office. Around 48 percent of respondents from Germany said they go to the office to meet their team members there.

Do you have a good relationship with your colleagues? Here's how it works
A pleasant working environment is good for productivity and can also be healthy. The Kununu platform informs that friendships in the workplace can also prevent burnout. If you can rely on your colleagues and everyone sticks together, it is also possible that you feel less stress. How to get a good relationship with colleagues:
- Trust: Small talk can be used to forge cautious bonds. Questions about the weekend can be ideal. If you then reveal even small things from your private life, the first step has been taken. However, you should avoid information that is too private, such as relationship crises.
- Don't be ridiculous: That doesn't really help if you want to build a good relationship with colleagues. This can be a deterrent because no one wants to be the next victim, so colleagues may turn away from gossiping people.
- Listen: Sometimes you have to let off steam, and other employees feel the same way. So just listen and have an open ear for the thoughts of your colleagues.
- Don't point fingers at others: If you make fun of colleagues because they didn't work 'properly', you probably won't make yourself very popular in the team.
- Offer support: If you have some breathing space yourself, you can offer support to others. This is certainly not only remembered by the person who was helped, but could also be well received by the boss.
It can also be useful to find common ground, informs the portal Career Bible. These can be, among other things, common hobbies that you can talk about.
