The Tramway Automotive Union (UTA) announced a collective strike throughout the country for next Tuesday, May 30. It decided after the negative result of a joint meeting and days after complying with a mandatory conciliation to suspend a measure of similar force.
From the union, they assured that in the appointment of this Tuesday at noon in the Ministry of Labor "the salary increase" was not agreed, so they will carry out "measures of union strength" from 0 hours on Tuesday 30.
The call for a collective strike was launched despite the continuation of negotiations. The union led by Roberto Fernández conditioned the lifting of these measures to obtain the "increase requested for the next hearing."
"The salaries of the workers require an urgent wage increase," concluded from the union.
For its part, the Argentine Association of Automotive Transport Entrepreneurs (AAETA) assured that there will be a new appointment, on Monday, May 29. "If there is no agreement, it will mean the beginning of force measures by the UTA from 00 hours on Tuesday, May 30, 2023," they said from the chamber.
They also questioned the Ministry of Transport of the Nation, which does not update the price base for the cost structure of the sector (it uses December values) and pays subsidies late, as indicated last week. "Transport operators are not in a position to assume a higher cost that implies the just union and union demand. We are not in economic and financial conditions, we do not set rates or subsidies," they explained.
In addition, the UTA warned that the protest will be made aftercompliance with the five-day truce dictated by the mandatory conciliation of last week, when on Thursday evening it threatened to stop from early Friday.
"The measure of force is pushed by those who have the responsibility to solve the serious crisis in which they are putting transport, for all the 'harmful' effects they cause, affecting the 10 million daily users of the AMBA and 9 million in the interior of the country," said that time the union headed by Fernandez.

The official leadership of the UTA is at odds with an internal faction, the Blue List. From that sector, last Thursday – hours before the official pronouncement – they had called for a strike to demand the urgent assumption of five secretariats in the interior of the country. Hours later, that dissident faction lifted the measure.
That Thursday night, amid the uncertainty of transport users, finally the Tramway Automotive Union announced compliance with the conciliation and suspended the imminent strike.
