At noon this Wednesday, silence will reign in French hospitals. A minute of silence will be respected in tribute to Carène Mezino, the nurse killed Monday at the University Hospital of Reims by a man suffering from psychiatric disorders.
"Beyond the anger that we must feel there is a certain emotion for what happened which is absolutely horrible, unspeakable," said on RMC / BFMTV this Wednesday morning the Minister of Health François Braun. He himself will be at the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris this noon to pay tribute to Carène Mezino.
First tributes on Tuesday
In support of their colleagues in Reims, the University Hospital of Caen Normandy has for example assured this Tuesday morning that a "minute of silence will be held today at noon in each service" of the establishment.
A first minute of silence was observed Tuesday at 13:30 p.m. in the nursing hospital. "We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and colleagues in the Occupational Health and Medicine Unit. We share their pain and sorrow," Reims University Hospital said in a statement.
A minute of silence was also held Tuesday at the National Assembly, and at the SantExpo exhibition, where the Minister of Health was going.
