Lightweight, moldable and modular, eco-sustainable, smart, customizable and adaptable to the well-being needs of the user. This is how the sofa of the future is imagined by thirty Italian and international high-end manufacturers, involved in a survey to discover the main transformations of the main seat of salt, living rooms and rooms in the next 20 years.
The sofa - this is the opinion - will evolve in line with changes in the way of socializing and using public or private spaces and with the main trends already protagonists of other sectors, including "hyper-customization" and new high-tech features. The research, carried out by Superevo, a Tuscan company specialized in innovative upholstered furniture for the furniture industry, was conducted on the occasion of the recent inauguration of the new production plant in Pontedera (Pisa).
In particular, attention to sustainability is unanimously shared practice, understood not only as the use of low-impact materials and production processes, but above all as the possibility of regeneration and reuse of all components once the life cycle with a user is over. Another widely shared aspect, in contrast with what has characterized sofas until recently, is lightness, flanked by excellent structural solidity, which would guarantee greater durability over time and would allow easier movements within the same spaces and during moving or disposal. Composite foams of expanded polystyrene and structural polyurethanes will therefore be increasingly used to increase lightness without affecting the resistance of the object.
