The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued yellow and orange storm alerts for the City of Buenos Aires and much of the central and coastal area of the country, and warned of strong winds and snowfall for Patagonia.
The orange storm alert for Thursday and yellow for Friday is maintained for the localities of the southeast, center and northeast of the province of Buenos Aires such as Ayacucho, Balcarce, General Guido, Maipú, northwest of General Juan Madariaga, Mar Chiquita, west of General Pueyrredón.
Other cities similarly affected by the rain are Arrecifes, Capitán Sarmiento, Carmen de Areco, Chacabuco, Colón, General Arenales, General Pinto, Junín, Leandro N. Alem, Lincoln, Pergamino, Rojas and Salto.
The same alert is expected for the center and south of the province of Santa Fe in localities such as Belgrano, Castellanos, Las Colonias, San Martín, Constitución, Iriondo, Rosario, San Lorenzo.
In turn, the center and south of the province of Entre Ríos also has orange alert for storms in cities such as Colón, Gualeguaychú, Islas del Ibicuy, Tala, Uruguay Gualeguay, Victoria. Meanwhile, the northwest of Entre Rios has a yellow alert.
The yellow alerts for storms for today and tomorrow are located in the northeast and southeast of the province of Córdoba, south of Santa Fe, northeast of La Pampa, the City of Buenos Aires and part of the province of Buenos Aires.
After the rains that are expected for Thursday and Friday, the porteños would dawn with mostly cloudy skies on Saturday but already without precipitation, with a minimum of 9 ° and a maximum of 14 °. On Sunday the clouds would follow, and the minimum temperature would fall to 5 °.
In turn, the SMN issued a yellow alert for strong winds from the western sector, with speeds between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour and gusts that can exceed 90 for the plateau of Pilcaniyeu, Ñorquincó, 9 de Julio, west of El Cuy, 25 de Mayo, in the center and south of Rio Negro.
The same alert is expected for today for localities in the center and south of Chubut such as Gastre, Oeste de Mártires, Telsen and Paso de Indios.
In turn, the mountain range of Chubut, Neuquén and Mendoza have yellow alert for snowfall while that of Rio Negro will have snowfall and strong winds.
The areas will be affected by persistent snowfall of varying intensity, some locally strong, where values of accumulated snow between 30 and 50 centimeters are expected, and may be overcome in a timely manner especially in high mountain areas.
In addition, the phenomenon will be accompanied by strong winds, so visibility reduction may be generated by suspended snow.
