Lufthansa has reached an "agreement in principle" with the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) for the acquisition of a minority stake in ItaAirways and under the agreement the MEF has also committed to a capital increase of 250 million euros and agreed, together with Lufthansa, options to allow a potential acquisition of the remaining shares by the German carrier at a later date. The purchase price of the remaining shares will be based on the development of Ita Airways' business. "The contractual finalization of the agreement is expected shortly," explains the German group.
