A letter full of emotion. Mickaëlle Paty, the sister of Samuel Paty, read at the microphone of Europe 1 the letter she sent Monday to Gérard Larcher, president of the Senate, to request the opening of a parliamentary inquiry to establish the "flaws" that led to the Islamist terrorist attack of which the professor of history was a victim.

"Like anyone else, I was not prepared to suffer the violence of a terrorist attack, nor, moreover, to hear my mother's scream announcing that my brother had been beheaded," she begins in this poignant letter, read with great emotion.

"We don't put a 'yes, but' after the word 'decapitation', in France, we put a period."

After denouncing an "absurdity" concerning the defense of some defendants indicted and the lack of protection of his brother, Mickaëlle Paty says he wants to ask the Senate "the possibility of holding accountable those responsible for the mismanagement, the erroneous treatment of the threat weighing on [his] brother".

Noting that her brother's attack "is unlike other attacks", she recalled that he was a "publicly designated target" and that those responsible failed to act, or acted "in a totally ineffective manner". This is why Mickaëlle Paty calls for the opening of a parliamentary inquiry "to establish the flaws of this tragedy and to try to plug the breaches".

On Wednesday, Gérard Larcher promised that this request would be examined "with attention" and "respectful empathy". His family and "a number of his colleagues (...) deserve that we consider this request with attention, will for justice and at the same time, a form of respectful empathy," he added on CNews.
