Talks at the Farnesina between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and his counterpart French Catherine Colonna. Colonna came to Rome after the cancellation of the visit of the Foreign Minister to Paris on 4 May due to the controversial statements of Interior Minister French Gérald Darmanin in recent weeks.
"Happy to have welcomed Minister Colonna to the Farnesina. Italy and France share interests and responsibilities in the EU and in the world. Our collaboration is essential to solve the current crises, starting with the migration crisis", Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani wrote on Twitter, posting the first photos of the meeting.
In a message on the occasion of Africa Day, Foreign Minister Tajani today explained that "Italy is a natural bridge between Europe and Africa, a continent too often forgotten to us on which the Italian government wants to bring attention throughout the international community".
"We are also very concerned about crisis situations, especially the humanitarian repercussions - Tajani also said - the armed conflict in Sudan, the economic crisis in Tunisia, the instability in Libya and the wave of irregular migrants that continues to pour on the Italian coasts". "I personally follow these dossiers - assured the Foreign Minister - and I maintain direct contact with our international partners to facilitate the search for shared and timely solutions".
