Which vehicles fall under driving licence category D? In 1999, a total of 16 driving licence categories were introduced. Classes C1, C1E, C and CE apply to trucks. Driving licence class D entitles people in Germany to drive buses on public roads. Renewal of these driving licences is required every five years from the age of 50.
