Weather: Weekend with more sun, but still with some thunderstorms

2023-05-26T06:50:04.318Z

Highlights: The bad weather, which in recent days has hit the Center-North, will slide slowly towards the South bringing heavy rains between Campania, Calabria and Basilicata. Over the weekend, then, the weather will also improve in the South thanks to the further expansion of the London Anticyclone. Both over the weekend and until the Bridge of June 2, the situation will typically be late spring and not hot African: we will have sunny mornings, afternoons with frequent thunderstorms especially close to the hills and temperatures around 30 degrees.

Anticyclone over London: the high ocean pressure expands towards Northern Europe and partly reconquers also the Italian Centre-North. In the South, still strong thunderstorms are expected.
Antonio Sanò, founder of the www.iLMeteo.it site, predicts that in the next few hours the bad weather, which in recent days has hit the Center-North, will slide slowly towards the South bringing heavy rains between Campania, Calabria and Basilicata. As for the Center-North, the rains of the last 2 days have unfortunately caused more damage, but they have also alleviated the drought of Piedmont with a nice relief for agriculture: unfortunately there are still about 400 millimeters of water due to the drought that began in December 2021, even if in recent days the snow on the Alps has also returned, Very important for water runoff in view of the summer.

Meanwhile, in the next few hours, the rains will reach in particular the Lower Tyrrhenian Sea, although there will be isolated thunderstorms close to the reliefs on most of the boot; in the evening then the fast transit of cooler air from East to West will bring some downpour between Veneto and Lombardy. A situation far from stable, but decidedly sunnier than in recent days, especially in the Center-North. Over the weekend, then, the weather will also improve in the South thanks to the further expansion of the London Anticyclone: in practice we are talking about the Azores Anticyclone away far north, towards England, and it is the same Zephyr Anticyclone that had protected us at the beginning of the week.

Now Zèfiro will expand again towards Italy with its high pressure, and fortunately it will not have African connotations: a year ago with the African anticyclone it was already gasping from the asphyxiating heat, this year the temperatures are bearable, for now. Both over the weekend and until the Bridge of June 2, the situation will typically be late spring and not hot African: we will have sunny mornings, afternoons with frequent thunderstorms especially close to the hills and temperatures around 30 degrees, but without African excesses. The bad weather will affect over the next few days especially the Iberian Peninsula and Algeria where violent storms are expected, the unbearable heat instead will be confined to Libya and for now without intentions of migration to the North, better this way.
