The bronze buffaloes are arriving in Dublin and will graze in the large park of Lucan House, the wonderful residence of the Italian ambassador in Dublin, like the lioness who will camp in the city's Castle. The animals created by the sculptor Davide Rivalta invade two prestigious places in the capital of Ireland with the dual purpose of celebrating Italy on the occasion of Republic Day and promoting its art by evoking the tradition of the past through the eyes and hand of a master of today. ''Grazing in Lucan'' will premiere on May 30 at 19pm - local time - with the artist's participation. The following day, at the same time, the official inauguration will also coincide with the early celebrations of the Italian Republic Day in the presence of Catherine Martin, Minister of Culture in Ireland, and Vittorio Sgarbi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, of Italian exponents of the economic and political panorama, culture and the media.
The exhibition project is the brainchild of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute with the collaboration of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art directed by Cristiana Collu and the Office of Public Works of Dublin Castle. "With this exhibition, Dublin translates into facts Minister Tajani's commitment to leverage Italian culture as an instrument of foreign policy", says Ambassador Ruggero Corrias speaking of the project that "is shaping up as the cultural event of the year in Ireland.
