After a cool and stormy month of May with dramatic floods in Emilia Romagna, frequent thunderstorms and even a lot of snow in the Alps, here come the first 30 degrees widespread.
Mattia Gussoni, meteorologist of the www.iLMeteo.it site, confirms that the thermometer, for the first time in 2023, marked values close to or slightly above 30 ° C on most of the boot, with the heat that was more intense in the Center-North than in the South. It is an acceptable heat, but as we have written, the first heat is never forgotten. In fact, from the epidemiological point of view, that is, from the point of view of human health, the first summer heat is the most dangerous for the elderly and children: fortunately this year it arrived with still acceptable values and, even the first days of next week, we will hardly go beyond 30 ° C.
The peaks of 35-36 ° C, widespread a year ago in May, are a distant memory, thank goodness. In addition to the first hot summer flavor still come afternoon thunderstorms, another characteristic of the late spring period. In short, after floods, snow and cyclones, we enter a more normal phase for the period even if we will not have stable weather for another 5-6 days. In fact, showers will be frequent in the afternoon, from North to South, at least until Thursday 1 June, then a more stable high pressure could arrive. At this moment the high pressure is in fact fugitive in Scotland and protects the British Isles; on its eastern edge it allows the descent of cooler air from the North Sea towards the Mediterranean and, thanks to the warmer temperatures on the ground, with the clash of these different air masses takes place the lighting of afternoon thunderstorms even strong on our country. In summary, the next few days will all be the same with mostly blue skies in the morning, sultry heat at lunchtime, thunderstorms in the afternoon and cooler evenings clear again.
The only exception is the disturbed passage of these hours between the North-East and the North-West which will still cause some morning downpours, outside the rules described above for the next 5-6 days. With the beginning of June we therefore point out that the first jolt of the African Anticyclone towards Italy is not excluded, with temperatures that could already be less bearable: for the next few days the saying 'the first heat is never forgotten' applies, for now with acceptable heat.
