Highlights: An obese passenger posted a video on TikTok demonstrating how difficult it is for her to walk down the narrow aisle of the plane. The video is accompanied by the caption, "Honestly, it's discrimination that they can't build wider aisles on planes in 2023" Just a day after the video was published, it has already garnered over half a million views and, as expected, garnered countless reactions from users. Many of them agreed that everyone has the right to fly comfortably and that airlines should make a change to be more inclusive.

A large woman argues that airlines create discrimination by not widening narrow aisles on planes to make it easier for passengers like her. The passenger, a TikToker named Oliva, shared a video demonstrating how difficult it is for her to walk down the aisle between the seats of the plane. Among other things, she is seen in the video as she is pushed with great difficulty down the aisle. The video is accompanied by the caption, "Honestly, it's discrimination that they can't build wider aisles on planes in 2023."

Just a day after the video was published, it has already garnered over half a million views and, as expected, it has also garnered countless reactions from users. Many of them agreed that everyone has the right to fly comfortably. One commenter wrote: "This is why I fly in Business Class or First Class. I'm not that big, but certainly not small. That way everyone is happy and I get peace of mind."

Another commenter wrote:
"This is definitely something I can agree with." While another respondent wrote that she thought it was not discrimination, she agreed that airlines should make a change to be more inclusive for a variety of passengers. "As a thin woman, I actually agree. I don't think it's discrimination, but it's just annoying that (on airplanes) we're crammed like sardines."

"Not comfortable flying next to someone big"

Not surprisingly, there were those who explained that the reasons for the narrow crossings lay in economic reasons. "Wider aisles mean fewer seats. Will they cut their profits to accommodate big people? It doesn't make sense," wrote one commenter. On the other hand, there were those who really disagreed with Olivia. "These crossings are definitely wide. I've seen people even get past flight attendants walking past the liquor cart during boarding," commented one user. Another wrote that it was not discrimination at all: "It's really not discrimination, and I say that as a fat girl."

Lifestyle website Tyla reports that last year, an overweight passenger named Kristi Lynn complained on TikTok about the seats on the plane and immediately received a flood of mocking comments. Some suggested that the next time she booked a flight, she should book two seats. Kristi responded: "I know it's uncomfortable to fly next to someone big, but not everyone can afford to book two seats."
