Kassel – The Federal Network Agency is trying to protect people in Germany from telephone fraud. Scammers try to get data or money from unsuspecting people by phone call or text message – some numbers don't call you.

The Federal Network Agency warns against these telephone numbers

Many people know it: An unknown number calls on your own phone. There is often uncertainty as to whether or not to lose weight. On the one hand, it could be a spam call or attempted fraud, on the other hand, an important call is also possible. "It is very annoying when you are called multiple times by an unknown number. You may call back and have an extremely high telephone bill," writes the Federal Network Agency.

The Federal Network Agency should also be informed in the event of unauthorised advertising calls, only then can it take action. Their website also contains up-to-date warnings and telephone numbers where consumers should not pick up. They can also search for a phone number to check if a caller is a possible scammer. Not only spam calls are displayed there, but also a large number of spam SMS.

According to the Federal Network Agency, fraudulent SMS messages that contain a request for payment are increasingly popular. For example, users receive messages via Whatsapp that their own data needs to be updated at the savings bank. The Federal Network Agency receives a high number of complaints because people are asked to pay customs duties in order to enable parcel delivery.
