Franca Rame, not only actress ten years after her death

Actress, archivist, editor, feminist in the 70s, but always with a reserve of autonomy from the movements, Franca Rame, ten years after her death, which took place on May 29, 2013, is remembered with a major international conference, debates and performances of music and words. A new edition of Una vita all'improvviso by Franca Rame and Dario Fo, with a preface by Jacopo Fo, will also be back in bookstores on 15 September 2023 for Guanda.
A series of events that bring to light the independent soul, unable to accept compromises and political commitment, great vocation of Franca Rame who in 2006 accepted to be a candidate in the political elections, leader of the list in the Senate for Italy of Values in Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Umbria. But, elected senator in Piedmont, Franca left the Senate two years later.
Born on July 18, 1929 from a family that had an ancient theatrical tradition, her name is inextricably linked to that of Dario Fo with whom she shared the scene and life. But there are still many things to discover about Franca Rame, actress and woman who was also the victim of brutal violence by some young right-wing extremists, on March 9, 1973, whom she never forgave.
Three days of conference were dedicated to 'Franca Rame, not only actress', from 17 to 19 May in Verona and Milan, organized in collaboration with the Dario Fo and Franca Rame Foundation. With contributions open to different methodologies and disciplines, a focus was proposed on the peculiarity of Franca's work with particular attention to the contribution given to those works that have often been considered instead the result of the work of Dario Fo alone, with an example above all, Mistero Buffo.
