Sponge dough:
300 g butter, soft
200 g of sugar
1 sachet of vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
5 eggs
260 g of flour
3 tsp baking powder
40 ml of milk
Pudding:
850 ml of milk
80 g of sugar
1 sachet of vanilla sugar
2 sachets of vanilla pudding powder
Strawberries:
1.2 kg of strawberries
3 packets of red cake glaze
6 tablespoons of sugar
750 ml of water

The preparation is very simple thanks to this step-by-step guide:

Preheat the oven to 170 °C convection.

Line a deep* baking tray (approx. 42 x 36 cm) with parchment paper or grease with a little butter.

For the batter: Beat butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and stir in. Mix flour with baking powder and stir in alternately with the milk until a homogeneous dough is obtained. Spread on the prepared baking tray and bake for 25 mins. until light brown. Allow to cool.

For the pudding: Mix pudding powder with sugar and 50 ml milk until smooth. Bring the remaining milk (800 ml) to a boil in a saucepan. While stirring, stir the mixed pudding powder into the boiling milk and simmer for at least 1 min. Allow to cool slightly.

Spread the pudding evenly on the cooled cake base. Wash the strawberries, pat dry and remove the greens. Cut the fruit in half and cover the cake tightly with them.

Mix the cake glaze with sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Spread quickly over the strawberries on the cake from the center and let it set.
