By June 2, 15 million traveling, 94% remain in Italy

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 29 - Once again Italians show that they prefer Italy as a destination for their holiday: more than 2 million will travel on the occasion of the June 15 bridge, and the preferred location will remain their country in 94% of cases. Sea resorts will be stormed. 41.8% will choose the sea, 26.2% will prefer the cities of art, 12.7% will go to mountain resorts. It emerges from the survey of Federalberghi which calculates a tourist turnover of about 6.88 billion euros.
Housing will see an affirmation of the house of relatives or friends with 28% of the demand. This is followed by the hotel structure with 23.9%, bed & breakfasts (22.2%), home ownership (12.4%) and residences (3.9%). The average expenditure per capita will stand at 454 euros, of which 425 for those who will remain in Italy and 917 for those who will go across the border. The average stay will be 3.1 nights for a turnover of about 6.88 billion.
This result - according to Federalberghi - could have been even greater if it had not been for the increase in prices that is characterizing this period. Almost half of holidaymakers (46.3%) decided to reduce spending on this holiday precisely because of inflation. The holiday was booked well in advance: 68.2% did so up to a month before. The main motivation for the holiday will be rest and relaxation (66%), then fun (35%). 22.8% will take advantage of this opportunity to join their family. Other reasons for choosing a holiday are habit (14.2%) and visits to exhibitions, museums and fairs (9.3%). Three out of 4 holidaymakers will use their own car; 10.4% will travel by plane and 6.1% by train. Comfort prevailed in the choice of means of transport (76.7%), especially among those who chose the car (84.3%) and the train (71.4%). Those who travel by plane, on the other hand, do it mainly (53.5%) to optimize time. Among those who will not go on holiday, 45.3% revealed that they do not leave for economic reasons; 18.4% for family reasons and another 10.6% for health reasons. (ANSA).
