EXCLUSIVE. The free open-air film festival organized in the Cour Carrée of the Louvre (Paris I) by the Louvre and MK2 returns from 6 to

Four outdoor movie nights in a sumptuous setting: this is what the Louvre Museum and MK2 offer from July 6 to 9 from 19:30 pm. The Cinéma Paradiso Louvre festival returns for the fourth edition in the Cour Carrée of the largest museum in the world. After a launch under the nave of the Grand Palais in 2013 and 2015 and three editions already outdoors in 2019, 2021 and 2022, the event will resume its summer quarters in this magical place. In the middle of this space of 160 m side, deckchairs will be installed under the starry sky and facing a giant screen 20 m long and 8 m high.

On the bill of this 2023 edition, entirely financed by sponsors and patrons: "The Freedmen" by Martin Scorsese with Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, screened for the first time in France in a restored 4K version (in very good definition) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Warner Studios, but also the surrealist masterpiece "Eight and a half" by Federico Fellini with Marcello Mastroianni and Anouk Aimée, the western "Once Upon a Time in the West" by Sergio Leone and "Plein soleil" by René Clément, a thriller that features, opposite Marie Laforêt, an ambiguous and poisonous Alain Delon.

New this year: the Cour Carrée will house spectators in a Neapolitan dolce vita atmosphere. "We will recreate the set we see in Giuseppe Tornatore's film Cinema Paradiso with Philippe Noiret," explains Elisha Karmitz, Managing Director of the MK2 Group. Cinéma Paradiso Louvre is part of the "Étés du Louvre" programme, a festival that includes concerts, theatre, dance and family activities in the Tuileries Gardens. However, these animations will echo the exhibition "Naples in Paris. The Louvre invites the Capodimonte Museum": from June 7, the place will host more than seventy of the greatest masterpieces of the Neapolitan establishment.

Dance lessons, Madame Arthur's cabaret show and DJ sets

All films will be presented by film personalities and the Cour Carrée will also offer dance classes (rock, swing and salsa), Madame Arthur's cabaret show or DJ sets (including with the diva Corine and other surprise guests). At the same time, five food trucks, a scooter and five bars will allow festival-goers to buy ice cream, pizza, focaccias, risottos and other fish and chips... Enough to feed every evening the 2500 people who will crowd into this courtyard completed under the reign of Louis XIV. "We want Cinema Paradiso Louvre to be a place of life, exchange, culture and pleasure," insists the CEO of MK2.

How do I get tickets for Cinéma Paradiso Louvre? The museum and MK2 have set up a lottery system. "We want everyone to have a chance and we want to avoid no-shows (the no-shows of people who have taken tickets)," explains Elisha Karmitz. From June 7 at 12 noon until July 4 at 12 noon, film lovers will be able to register on www.mk2festivalparadiso.com. Each lottery participant will be able to apply for up to four places (two adults and two children). Three draws will then take place on Wednesday, June 21 and June 28 and Tuesday, July 4.

If new volunteers can try their luck until the last moment, those who were not selected in the previous draws will be automatically re-registered for the following ones... Buona fortuna! (Good luck!)
