The Hollywood writers' strike continues to claim victims, with more and more productions delayed, suspended and halted due to the controversy stemming from American screenwriters' demand for more proper pay for their work. One of the television series hit harder than others by the strike is HBO's Euphoria.

For now, we may well not get to watch the third season of Euphoria until well into 2025 — a full three years after its second season ended in February 2022.
In addition to the strike, another major reason for the delay of the third season of the hit series from the high-quality television network (which is based, of course, on the Israeli "Euphoria") is the fact that the cast, headed by Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, as well as series creator Sam Levinson, are busy with other projects. Zendaya, for example, will star towards the end of the year in the sequel "Dune 2" and the romantic sports comedy "Challengers" set in the tennis world, while Sweeney will star next year in the comic book film "Madame Web," which will be part of the "Spider-Man" cinematic universe, and the psychological horror film "Immaculate," set in an Italian monastery.

As for Levinson, he's currently promoting "The Idol," his and The Weeknd's much-talked-about new series, which premieres on HBO next week (after receiving a lot of negative criticism at the last Cannes Film Festival).
In a recent interview with Deadline, Francesca Orsi, HBO's head of drama, said, "[The third season of] 'Euphoria' is one of the series we started writing while working on 'The Idol,' but right now we don't have a lot of scripts ready so we can't start shooting.

"So the airing date of this series — ideally 2025 — will be determined depending on when we can continue to work with Sam, who has currently put down his pencils (because of the strike) and finishes work on 'The Idol.'"
