(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 30 - A panoramic elevator will allow everyone to access the higher orders of the Colosseum.
It will in fact be open to the public an elevation plant, built in full respect of the monument, which will allow all visitors to the archaeological park, even those with mobility difficulties, to reach the highest levels of the cavea, in particular the gallery located between the II and III order, to fully enjoy the beauty of the most famous monument in the world.
The new facility was inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, with a special performance by the Italian Cinema Orchestra that performed on the notes of Oscar winner Hans Zimmer. In fact, the realization of the work is due to the Italian Cinema Orchestra, in synergy with the ParCo: on the occasion of the screening in the arena of the Flavian Amphitheater of the film Gladiator, by Ridley Scott, in the presence of Russel Crowe and with the music of Hans Zimmer performed live, Marco Patrignani, president of the Orchestra, had taken the commitment in 2018 to sponsor the new elevator.
Even the Colosseum Archaeological Park, since its establishment, has included in its mission the theme of physical, cultural and cognitive accessibility, striving to welcome all the public with adequate aids to the visit, from signage, tactile maps, easy-to-read guides, and of course with routes able to overcome differences in height.
"From today the Colosseum is even more a World Heritage Site" commented Sangiuliano who applauds the goal of making culture increasingly "authentically inclusive". "It will now be possible for all visitors to enjoy a very suggestive look at the skies of Rome," said the director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, Alfonsina Russo.
The elevator "is as if it had been built with the power of emotions and dreams, which seem ethereal and are instead very powerful" noted the president of the Orchestra, Patrignani. (ANSA).
