The Cuban agency Prensa Latina and ANSA today signed an important collaboration agreement in the presence in connection of the Italian ambassador in Havana Roberto Vellano and the ambassador of Cuba in Italy Mirta Granda Averhoff. The partnership involves the exchange of content that can be used on the respective information platforms.

The offer of international information services is therefore enriched for the subscribers of the two Agencies: the agreement is articulated in fact in the possibility for partners to use their respective information services for editorial use and to develop joint commercial offers to support the communication of institutions and companies in their respective countries.

For Ambassador Roberto Vellano, "this agreement will consolidate the collaboration between two important news agencies in Cuba and Italy, such as ANSA and Prensa Latina. Its main objective is to strengthen the flow of information about what is happening in our respective countries and, in general, to improve our mutual knowledge.
Fortunately, this knowledge is based on a very solid basis of sympathy, respect and consideration that characterizes relations between Italy and Cuba. Relationships that also cover a very wide spectrum of activities, from political dialogue to culture, from cooperation programs to trade relations. Improving the flow of information also means having access to a multiplicity of voices and giving the public, readers and journalists themselves (who use agencies as primary sources) the tools for a more conscious, plural and balanced analysis and debate, where all points of view adapt. In this sense, I am pleased to welcome this agreement and assure you that our embassy in Havana will offer all the necessary collaboration and follow-up".

Cuban Ambassador to Italy Mirta Granda Averhoff said: "We Cubans feel very proud of our achievements, precisely because every goal involves a great sacrifice. For this reason, today is a day of joy and emotion for my country with the signing of this agreement with the main Italian press agency, which has established itself as one of the most important also at a global level. Cuba is committed to truth and reliable access to information for understanding the political, social and economic phenomena that surround us. I have no doubt that both agencies, which are obligatory points of reference in their respective regional panoramas, will be strengthened by this agreement and will contribute to the improvement of the profession, to the benefit of subscribers who expect reliable information. This is another step forward for Cuba and Italy in strengthening their bilateral relations."
For the president of Prensa Latina Luis Enrique Gonzales Acosta, today's signing will allow to "support a closer relationship between the two agencies on the basis of this new agreement, explore new areas of exchange such as photography and audiovisual services and resume the ties that Prensa Latina and ANSA had long ago".

ANSA CEO Stefano De Alessandri expressed satisfaction with the new collaboration: "This agreement with Prensa Latina restarts an important previous collaboration and represents for ANSA a further step in the network of international collaborations in a strategic region; at the same time, in addition to ensuring the mutual availability of certified information between Cuba and Italy, it will contribute to deepening the mutual knowledge of the two countries".
