McDonald's wants to increase its sales and is currently fine-tuning the recipe for its important classics – but not everyone likes a current change.

Kassel – McDonald's is one of the most popular fast food restaurants in the world. But now, the fast-food giant has introduced a number of changes designed to improve its popular classics such as Big Mac, hamburgers and cheeseburgers. This is reported by the American television channel CNN. Consequently, the improvements to the core products should also lead to an increase in sales.

According to the company, the improvements will first be made in international markets. In Germany, the recipe of a sauce for a popular burger has recently been changed – and it doesn't go down well with everyone. On the contrary, it even causes violent reactions on the Internet.

McDonald's customers upset: Vegan sauce on Hamburg's Royal TS doesn't go down well

On its website, the fast-food giant advertises Hamburg's Royal TS with a new recipe and celebrates it as an "inherently tasteful high nobility". But some customers see it differently. The new sauce annoyed a customer so much that she let her anger run wild on McDonald's official Facebook page: "New recipe - Hamburger Royal TS. The taste is just disgusting. I thought the sauce on the burger had expired. When asked, I was told that this was the new vegan sauce."

The customer followed up and scolded: "Offering vegan products, okay, but why vegan sauce is slammed on a normal burger, which just tastes sweet, is totally thin and now has absolutely nothing to do with the previous taste of the TS, is not clear to me. No vegan would buy the TS."

Another customer also complained about the vegan sauce: "I already know why I don't participate in all the vegan hype! It's annoying and doesn't taste good! Again good example at the Royal TS. The new vegan sauce is just bäh. Does it have to be?"

At McDonald's, a new vegan burger has already caused a lot of trouble

Changes to popular classics or on the menu are a risky undertaking – especially since not all changes in the past were to the liking of McDonald's customers. The fast-food chain introduced the "McPlant" in February, a vegan burger as an alternative for vegans. However, two burgers that didn't work had to give way: The "Fresh Vegan TS" and the "Vegan Burger".

"Unfortunately, the Fresh Vegan TS was not in demand to the extent that we would have liked. That's why, like the Vegan Burger, it will be replaced by the McPlant as a plant-based alternative," a company spokesman explained the decision at the time. What also made the hairs on the back of the neck stand up for many vegans was the fact that, strictly speaking, the new "McPlant" is not really vegan. Because: "The McPlant burger is garnished with lettuce, pickle, tomatoes, cheese, ketchup, mustard and sandwich sauce. The cheese contains milk and the sandwich sauce contains egg," the spokesperson said.

It remains to be seen whether the announced changes to the Big Mac and Cheeseburger will trigger similar reactions from customers. Meanwhile, the company has already considered its own system for the reusable obligation in Germany. In addition, the McDonald's cups will be able to do without straws in the future.
