Thirteen Israeli passengers, eight Italians, no family on board apart from the skipper and his companion of Russian origin, a birthday to celebrate. There are still several points to be clarified in the trip on Lake Maggiore between 007, including some belonging to the Mossad, the security service of Israel, who boarded the Goduria on Sunday, and which then ended in tragedy. The boat was owned by Claudio Carminati, 53 years old from the province of Varese, who is now officially under investigation for shipwreck and manslaughter.
The Goduria, on the way back from a lunch on the Borromeo Islands, was shipwrecked due to a storm of rain, hail and wind, which made it first capsize and then sink in Lisanza (Varese), causing the death of four people: the 007 Italians Claudio Alonzi and Tiziana Barnobi, the former member of the Mossad Shimoni Erez and Carminati's partner, Anya Bozhkova. The survivors, who arrived on shore thanks to the help of a group of boys on board a boat, and a second skipper arrived to help them with a second boat, after a brief passage in various hospitals in the province immediately returned home.
It was a private jet used for official sensitive flights, which took off from Israel and landed in Milan, to retrieve the survivors of the shipwreck. "If on the boat the occasion was a moment of celebration it is possible, it cannot be excluded that before there were other types of meetings," a source told ANSA.
To give answers to the many outstanding questions could be the same boat, for which the recovery operations have failed for two days in a row, due to a stranding yesterday and a difficulty in bringing it back to the surface again today, so much so that a third attempt is scheduled for tomorrow, before changing plan. In the continuation of the investigations on the circumstances that led to the capsizing of the Goduria, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Busto Arsizio is acquiring all the useful documentation, starting from the registration documents of the boat, which contain the technical-legal data including the draft of the hull, the maximum portability, any expansion or modernization works (which at the moment would not result) and the safety equipment. Weather reports, the times at which they would have been disclosed and the correspondence between the type of alert and the extent of precipitation that actually occurred are also being examined. The results of the autopsies on the bodies of Claudio Alonzi and Tiziana Barnobi, both 007 Italians, Shimoni Erez, belonging to the Mossad and Anya Bozhkova, Carminati's companion, are also expected. The conduct of the 53-year-old skipper will then be investigated, to understand if he complied with the navigation rules, whether or not he equipped his boat with all the necessary safety systems, and whether or not he reacted promptly to the weather emergency. He, in shock for what happened and especially for having lost his partner, will be resented soon. Who knows if any of the 007 on board will be called to testify about what happened.
